Render tonight. Sleep well.
Your render is saved, then the computer turns itself off. Shut down, sleep or just quitBlender when the last frame is done. Blender 4.5 LTS and 5.2 LTS, Windows, macOS and Linux.

The render finishes at 3 a.m.
Then the computer hums until morning, burning power and heating the room. Or you stay up and wait.
Or you set a timer, guess wrong, and the machine switches off at frame 212 of 240.
Simple Shutdown waits for the render, not the clock. Arm it, press F12 or Ctrl+F12 and go to bed. When the render is done, your image and your .blend are saved, and the computer turns off.

What you get
- One switch. In the top bar, the Render menu and at the top of the Render properties. It glows red when armed, so you can't miss it.
- Your render is saved first. A still render lives only in memory, so it is saved to your Output path (or next to the .blend) before anything turns off. Animations write their own frames.
- Your .blend is saved too. No "save changes?" dialog can block the shutdown.
- Changed your mind? Cancel. A countdown (60 s by default) with a Cancel button.
- Shut down, sleep or quit Blender. Your choice.
- Never armed by surprise. The switch isn't stored in the .blend, so an old file can't turn your computer off.
-
Command-line renders too. With
blender -bit acts as soon as the render ends. -
At home on Linux. Standard
systemctl, no root on a normal desktop login, Flatpak and Snap builds of Blender included. If the system ever refuses, Blender stays open and tells you why, and your work is saved.

Why I made it
It drove me mad that my computer kept eating energy for hours after the render had finished.Timers didn't help: guess wrong and the render is cut off. So I made a switch that waits for therender itself, saves the work first, and only then turns everything off.
Before every release it is installed into a clean Blender 4.5 and 5.2 and checked by an automated testsuite on Windows and Linux.
