Hi, I love the addon, but there seems to be a bug where using retopo mode causes crease values on all edges in a model to corrupt or shift multiple decimal points smaller. In one instance, the crease values for edges were being replaced with equations, which I have no idea how that could happen. Hope this can be fixed in the future.

Hey James, creases in Retopoflow are repurposed as Pins, since that is the only way Blender can display them properly. When you exit Retopoflow, creases are fully restored to their previous values and you only see the fractional version while in Retopoflow. New creases made while in Retopoflow are also saved. If you want, you can disable this under General -> Tool Switching -> Pinning via Creases. Please reach out if you have any issues!

Critical Workflow Issue: Persistence of RetopoFlow settings in Blender Edit Mode
    Dear RetopoFlow Team,
I am writing to report a significant workflow disruption I am experiencing with RetopoFlow 4.1.5.
Currently, I am working across multiple Blender versions, including Blender 4.5, 5.0, and 5.1 alpha/beta. In all these versions, I have noticed that RetopoFlow settings do not revert to their default values when switching back to standard Blender Edit Mode functions (such as the Select tool).
Specifically, the Snap mode, Auto Merge, and Overlay settings remain stuck on the values used within RetopoFlow. This requires me to manually reset these settings every time I exit the add-on, which is becoming extremely inconvenient and time-consuming for my professional pipeline.
Given that this issue persists across the latest and upcoming Blender versions, I would be very grateful if you could look into this as a high priority.
Thank you for your hard work on this amazing tool. I look forward to your guidance or a potential fix.
    Best regards,

I really love this add on. One minor thing I would like to see in an update if possible, is to do with the pen tool. It would be better if when you draw an edge while moving over multiple polygons, it automatically adds in vertices to edges where needed too. So you don't have to put them in yourself one at a time. So it is more in line with Maya's pen tool. If not for that, it would be perfect.

Multi-cutting with PolyPen is on our roadmap! Please note that you can also use Blender's knife at any time by pressing K.

As a beginner to 3d character sculpting I used to dread retopology. This addon makes the process so streamlined that I actually caught myself having fun! There are two issues I'd like to address however:
    1) When I try to use any other tool besides the poly pen using my drawing tablet pen, blender becomes extremely laggy whilst using a mouse causes no issues.

    2) On occasion the relax brush "breaks". Somewhere in the execution, the algorithm tries to convert a NaN to integer. The only way I've found to fix it is to restart a new retopology from scratch.

I admit this may be to my user error but if these bugs are addressed in the near future I am happy to give 5 stars.

    (Using blender 4.5.3)

Thanks for the kind review! If Relax (or any tool) has an error, please reach out to us so we can fix it! Providing the error message, screenshot, and/or blend file will help us track down the cause significantly faster.

For the pen issue, we have tracked that down to a tablet API issue in Blender. Please try switching your tablet API in Blender's preferences under Input -> Tablet. That should do the trick!

Fantastic upgrade from RetopoFlow 3, especially the polypen. Love that everything is in the default Blender edit mode. I wish there was a way for "retopology mode" to stay on when switching to default Blender tools, maybe a toggle button when in edit mode.

Hey James, thanks for the kind review! You can already keep the retopology settings the same by going to the General panel and choosing Apply Retopology Settings under the Tool section. It will also save the current settings so you can restore them at any time.

If you were a user of Retopoflow 3 and the previous versions, 4 is a massive change. 3 and before used to absolutely do my head in, and I ended up spending hundreds buying Topogun instead because it was just that much better.

But I heard 4 was a big improvement so I took the risk and bought it, because having everything in the same modelling program improves the work flow. In its current state, it has a few minor bugs, like for some reason the stroke tool will just run at 3fps, then 5 mins later it's fine on the same model.

I dunno where patching went, I have to read some more docs, I kinda just went in head first because I need to get work done.

Faster, more responsive, I can have high poly reference models higher than 50k tris etc

Thanks for the review! If you find Stokes lagging at any point, can you save the file and send it to us so we can investigate? There is a good chance it is caused by a tablet driver bug in Blender if you are using a tablet on Windows, and we can help you out with that if you reach out to support. It is likely that you need to switch the Tablet API in your preferences to get rid of the input lag, which is also present in recent versions of Blender even without the add-on. If you find yourself missing any features from other retopology apps, just let us know!

"sometimes wonky selection of verts or edges, my cursor will be directly over the vert and it will still pick up and drag the entire edge or face, at least in polypen mode."

    similar, but nice addOn.

Does increasing the hit size for vertices in the Tweaking panel help? Vertices are always prioritized over edges, so increasing that should solve any issues with accidental selection. Sending us your display resolution and UI scale could help us find a better default for that if you find that edges are accidentally grabbed too often.

A pretty good addition to blender's lackluster base retopology toolset, there are quirks, the most noticeable is is the sometimes wonky selection of verts or edges, my cursor will be directly over the vert and it will still pick up and drag the entire edge or face, at least in polypen mode. Smoothing and tweaking tools will sometimes outright not work. Hoping that one day this will be as good or better than Maya's quad draw, I think it's pretty close.

Relax and Tweak recieved some big bugfixes in the last update, so please reach out if you continue to have any issues! You can also increase the hit size of vertices in the Tweaking panel. Sending us your display resolution and UI scale could help us find a better default for that if you find that edges are accidentally grabbed too often.

I purchased it and installed the zip file in blender 4.3.2 version, but the retopoflow window does not appear.

    • Orange Turbine

Hi, please make sure that your browser did not unzip the file, since it needs to be installed as a .zip. Also be aware that there is no Retopoflow menu in version 4. You can read more about installation and getting started in the docs: https://docs.retopoflow.com/v4/installation.html

Please message us about any issue and we would be happy to help you out!
