This is hardly ready to be out of beta. While the interface is much less clunky, I run into bugs almost every time I retopologize a mesh.

    - Normals are frequently flipped
    - It really struggles with thin objects in a way that V3 did not (like fins)
    - Mirroring gets confused and wants to connect with vertices on the other side of the mesh
    - Relax brush gets confused really easily in a way that it did not in V3

It's also irritating that I paid for V3 and they were already talking about V4 when I purchased that version, then they require you to purchase a whole new license for V4.

Hi, we would love to be able to fix those issues for you! Reporting issues to us is extremely helpful so that we can make sure Retopoflow can work better for everyone's unique scenes. Please message us with more details so that we can make sure to address these. It also sounds like changing some settings (like the retopology overlay distance, the mirroring merge distance, the mirroring visualization, and the Relax algorithm options) would help solve these concerns.

Ive always loved using Retopoflow but 4 is such a giant step backward in basically every way. Unpredictable snapping, automerge even when its turned off (in multiple places, because that makes sense....)...pinning verts can only be done when you switch to the tweak or relax tools specifically even though you can use those with temporary hotkeys. just wildly disappointing all around.

That definitely sounds like you're experiencing a bug and not intended behavior. Please message us with details so we can get that fixed in the next update! As for pinning, you can actually edit that in any tool with Shift P and Alt P.

I wanted to use this in 5.0 because my friend has this and its so much fun in the old version with its own studio to go to within Blender, I find that the new set up in this 4.0 series takes away from all the the bells and whistles that is in the 3 series. It seems less functional than hers, I love when i watch her in her version its amazing but this version is like a lazier version of 3. I design 3d clothing so I guess i just have to learn this one. :(

While we have a couple things to still rewrite for version 4, it should already be much more functional and stable than version 3. Please message us with what you are missing and we will be happy to help you out!

A regression from Retopoflow3, which adds some welcome extra speed and ease of use in exchange of missing key functionality and crippling bugs. I've never been so baffled by an "upgrade".

Luckily RF3 is still supported and I was able to revert and reinstall the old version to actually deliver my work.

While Rf4 is still under development, I'm frustrated by how many small -- but essential -- features from Rf3 are missing.

Patches being pending is a shame but wasn't a dealbreaker. The lack of a dedicated radial menu is frustrating, but I can get used to it. By far, my biggest issue is not being able to adjust segment counts with the Polystrips tool (aside from immediately after first draw, which isn't very useful). It completely destroys my process and makes the tool DoA, since I map out my major loops then fill in later. The best workaroudn would be selecting and dissolving every single edge I don't need, but that's cumbersome and defeats the point -- where's the 'flow'? Every time I start using Rf4, I'm quickly reminded why I always bounce off and instead load up an older Blender ver. with Rf3 installed.

I trust they'll get there eventually (my issue is on their to-do list) and I do appreciate how much of an undertaking this rebuild is -- the seamless integration into Blender's edit environment is fantastic. It'll far surpass Rf3 once it catches up in feature parity; I'll update my review to reflect that when the time comes. Unforunately, as much as I don't want to leave a negative review (I really do love Rf3 and believe in 4's potential), Rf4 is completely unusable for me in its current state.

Hi, we do have a radial menu! It is the W "tool switching" key and it has been expanded to include common tool properties as well. And we will absolutely be continuing work on Patches and PolyStrips shortly! We just had to pivot to making sure Blender 5.0 was supported first. Thank you for your understanding in the meantime.

When it works it's fine and it really speeds your workflow. But right now Contours stopped working, relax and tweak as well and I'm wasting hours trying to fix this to no avail. Uninstalled and installed again and nothing.

Less functional than the alpha version of 4.0 that used to be available to 3.0 customers. Functions that are advertised don't work half of the time, if not more, and the addon crashes frequently. 2 stars only because of the potential it has, but this should not have been released for sale. It's undercooked even for beta. Buy it sometime in the future once it has matured.

Hi, if anything isn't working as expected, please let us know right away! If you have a crash right now it is very likely a conflict with another add-on, and we are working to resolve that ASAP. The beta on its own will not cause any crashes, but regardless the conflict will be fixed very shortly. We can fix things only if we know about them, so any extra info is very helpful!

I wanted to use it for a while, and give the creator time to push out updates that would hopefully add features that were missing (like Patches and a few other minor things). I can say now with confidence that this is mostly disappointing.

It is nice that you don't have to launch into a separate, special editor mode to use Retopoflow now, but this new iteration seems to have stepped backward in a lot of ways. Its riddled with bugs that either destroy topology you're actively working on, or just become irritating all around - Normals getting inverted for no reason. vertices snapping to the opposite side of a mesh while you're trying to relax/tweak. Vertex auto merge constantly turning itself back on - I think it would do this when I use the Polypen. In the end, Retopoflow brings my workflow to a grinding hault. Retopology in Retopoflow 3, was fast and relatively painless. I could be in and out in 10 minutes for less complex meshes. Now it seems that the tool actively works against me as I retopo.

I thought to myself one day - oh I'll just downgrade to retopo 3. I still had the zip file on my hard drive so I thought I'd give it a try. Little did I know - Retopoflow 3 DOES NOT PLAY NICE WITH BLENDER 5.X. My current projects were all made in Blender 5 so i can't even open Blender 3.6 and work that way. I'm basically stuck with a frustrating tool.

I'm ultimately disappointed. I think my only real option is to finish out my current projects and downgrade to Blender 3.6 at some point, but that feels like such a step backwards all together.

Unfortunately, it seems to malfunction in some environments.
Every time I click in PolyPen, Blender stops responding.
It would be nice if there were a trial version.
