Altbau Alley & Courtyard Generator – Central European Back Court With Galleries, Archway, Cobblestones and Washing Lines (Geometry Nodes)

Tidebone Studio in Procedural Generators

An old-town back court in one Geometry Nodes modifier.

Tidebone Altbau Alley & Courtyard builds the back court (Hinterhof) or alley of a Central European block: walls with window axes, open access galleries (Pawlatschen), an archway through the front wall, ground-floor doors, floor courses and cornice, drainpipes, paving with a gutter strip, washing lines and a few props. Width, depth, floor count and layout are inputs; the number of window axes follows the length of every wall.

Features

  • Three layouts: Courtyard (four walls, archway), U-Courtyard (open to the front), Alley (two walls)
  • Walls: 1–8 floors, ground height, floor height and wall thickness as inputs; plinth, floor courses, cornice
  • Windows and doors: axes from Bay Width; rectangular or arched windows with frame, sill and lintel; ground-floor doors (centre, every third, every second) with steps and a wall lamp
  • Passage: archway through the front wall with width and height inputs
  • Pawlatschen galleries: back wall, both side walls or all around; levels, depth, posts, railing and balusters
  • Details: drainpipes, wall lamps, washing lines with sag and cloth, bins, crates, tree
  • Ground: Cobble, Flagstone, Brick or Plain paving, stone size, gutter strip
  • Clean meshes: every tested case is a closed mesh with a UV map and outward normals, hard edges kept (edge-angle shading), eight material inputs
  • Procedural materials, no image textures; asset-browser ready; demo scene; README with input and polycount tables
  • No add-ons, no Python, no image textures. Tested headless on Blender 4.2 LTS, 4.5 LTS and 5.2 LTS: 72 parameter cases each, 0 errors, identical vertex, face and triangle counts

What it is not (so you know before you buy): the walls are one-sided (windows, galleries and pipes are on the inner face, the outer face is plain); no roofs, no interiors; windows are placed on the wall face, not cut into it (the archway is the only opening); the tree is a simple low-poly stand-in and the cloth is flat; the paving is instanced stones (about 190,000 triangles for the default 10 x 12 m court: raise Stone Size or use Plain for background courts); no wear or damage setting; only Cycles was checked.

Included: tidebone_altbau_courtyard.blend (the generator, helper groups, 8 materials), asset catalog, demo scene (a back court), README, license (Personal 1 seat / Studio up to 10).

How it was made (AI disclosure: AI-assisted): the node groups were built by Python build scripts written with an AI coding assistant; the shipped file contains only standard Geometry Nodes and shader nodes. The gallery images and the video are Cycles renders of the shipped file, not AI-generated images.
