Straps, belts and lacing along any curve – one Geometry Nodes modifier.
Tidebone Strap & Lace Kit bends flat leather straps, belts and eyelet lacing onto a curve you draw: a stitched strap with a choice of tips, real punched holes and metal grommets; a belt with folded flap, rivets, buckle frame with prong and keeper loop; and two eyelet flaps joined by laces in three patterns. Everything is built straight and bent onto the curve in one step, so length, twist and orientation are inputs.
Features
- Three elements in one modifier: Strap, Belt, Lacing
- Any path: a straight strap of any length, or the Bezier / NURBS / poly curve the modifier sits on; Orientation Flat or Upright (a belt around a waist); Twist in degrees
- Strap: width, thickness, rounded edges, square or round start, four tips (Square, Round, Pointed, Soft Point), stitching None / Single / Double
- Real holes: punched openings (mesh Boolean) with count, spacing, size and distance from the tip; optional metal grommets
- Belt: square or round buckle frame with prong, folded flap with two rivets, keeper loop
- Lacing: eyelets per row, gap, lace diameter, slack; Criss-Cross, Straight Bars or Zig-Zag; optional loose tails with aglets
- Clean meshes: every tested case is a closed mesh with a UV map and outward normals, hard edges kept (edge-angle shading), up to four materials (leather, thread, hardware, cord) as inputs
- Procedural materials, no image textures; asset-browser ready; demo scene; README with input and polycount tables
- No add-ons, no Python, no image textures. Tested headless on Blender 4.2 LTS, 4.5 LTS and 5.2 LTS: 115 parameter cases each, 0 errors, identical vertex, face and triangle counts
What it is not (so you know before you buy): the strap follows a path but does not collide with anything; very tight curves fold it over itself; the belt buckle sits at the start and the tail does not pass through it; lacing has no knots or bows and the laces lie over the flaps (no over/under weave); leather, thread, brass and cord only (no webbing, chains, D-rings or zippers); UVs are box-projected; only Cycles was checked.
Included: tidebone_strap_lace_kit.blend (the generator, helper groups, 4 materials), asset catalog, demo scene (belt, lacing and a stitched strap), README, license (Personal 1 seat / Studio up to 10).
How it was made (AI disclosure: AI-assisted): the node groups were built by Python build scripts written with an AI coding assistant; the shipped file contains only standard Geometry Nodes and shader nodes. The gallery images and the video are Cycles renders of the shipped file, not AI-generated images.
